100 Thieves has successfully advanced to the group stage of the Esports World Cup after achieving a 2-0 victory against 1win in the open qualifiers. The matches took place on Ancient and Anubis, where 100 Thieves clinched a narrow 16-14 win on Ancient, followed by a more dominant 13-6 performance on Anubis.

The team, led by Jack "Gizmy" von Spreckelsen, faced stiff competition in what was deemed the bracket of death, which also included teams like BC.Game and Liquid. They managed to overcome the challenge posed by 1win, who previously eliminated Liquid in the other Round of 16 match.

The match against 1win was particularly intense, with 100 Thieves needing overtime to secure their opponent’s pick, Ancient. However, they found greater success on Anubis, where Alex "poiii" Nyholm Sundgren shone brightly, finishing with an impressive 1.65 rating on the CT side. 100 Thieves dominated the half, ending it at 9-3, despite 1win winning the pistol round.

This qualification marks an important milestone for 100 Thieves, as it is their first entry into a tier-one LAN event since re-entering the Counter-Strike scene earlier this year. Along with their victory, 100 Thieves has now ascended to No. 33 in the VRS rankings and aims to gather more points in the upcoming double-elimination group stage, which is set to commence on August 12.
