Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 August 2026
CS2OBSERVER (“we”, “us”) is an independent CS2 stats and prediction site. We keep data collection to a minimum and this policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and your choices. You can browse the entire site without an account.
What we collect
- Usage analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics (aggregate, cookieless page metrics and performance) and PostHog (EU-hosted product analytics): page views, clicks, approximate location (country/region derived from your IP, which is not stored in full), device, browser and OS, and session recordingsof on-page interactions to understand and fix usability issues. All form inputs are masked in recordings — we do not capture what you type (search terms, passwords).
- Account data (optional). If you create an account, we store your chosen username, a salted, hashed password(never the plaintext), the teams and players you follow, and your predictions in the pick'em feature. Accounts do not ask for or store an email address.
- Newsletter (optional). If you subscribe to the daily email, we store your email address, your subscription status, when you subscribed, and where the signup came from. Subscription is double opt-in (nothing is sent until you confirm via the emailed link), every email contains a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops all sending immediately. Emails are delivered via Resend, which processes your address as our provider. We never share or sell the list.
- Match chat. Messages you post in a match's chat are stored and shown publicly with your username.
- Server logs. Standard request logs (IP address, user agent, timestamps) kept short-term for security and to operate the service.
- Search. Search terms may be counted in aggregate to power features like “most searched this week”; these are not tied to your identity.
How we use it
To operate, secure, and improve the site — understand which features are used, diagnose problems, and keep the service running. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.
Cookies & local storage
We use a small number of cookies / local-storage items: an essential one to keep you signed in if you create an account, and analyticscookies set by PostHog. Vercel Analytics is cookieless. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings, and PostHog honors your browser's “Do Not Track” signal where enabled. Blocking analytics cookies does not affect your ability to use the site.
Third parties
We rely on: Vercel (website hosting and analytics), PostHog (EU-region product analytics and session replay), Resend (newsletter email delivery), Reddit(an advertising pixel that measures whether our Reddit ads lead to signups — it is not loaded if you decline analytics), and Cloudflare (DNS and email forwarding). Public match data and images are sourced from third-party providers such as HLTV; those images are served through our own cache. Each provider processes data under its own privacy terms.
Retention
Account data is kept while your account exists. Analytics and logs are retained only as long as useful for the purposes above and then aggregated or removed. Ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your data, or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email contact@cs2observer.comand we'll help.
Children
CS2OBSERVER is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. The site displays match predictions and reference odds; see the disclaimer— nothing here is betting advice.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy; the “last updated” date above reflects the latest version. Questions or requests: contact@cs2observer.com.
