FaZe outlines changes after coaching shift and semifinals approach

FaZe's coach, Niclas "enkay J" Krumhorn, confirmed that the decision to replace AWPer Helvijs "broky" Saukants was made following their last event in Barcelona. Krumhorn stated that both he and upper management recognized the need for a change, despite the emotional weight of letting go of a player with broky's legacy at FaZe.

After struggling early in the XSE Pro League with losses to TYLOO and MIBR, FaZe made a strong comeback, defeating BetBoom in the quarter-finals with a convincing 2-0 series. The turnaround in performance has been evident, with FaZe winning four consecutive series, notably without losing a single map in three of those matches.

In a post-match interview, Krumhorn shared insights on the team's progress and challenges faced. He noted that establishing momentum was key to their success against BetBoom, highlighting their ability to win three out of four pistol rounds. The team's preparation was also a factor, with Krumhorn emphasizing a good game plan for both Cache and Ancient. He stated, "We were also a bit surprised that they actually wanted to start T on Cache, because this map is still a bit CT-sided at the moment."

Reflecting on the team’s recovery from an initial 0-2 start, Krumhorn admitted there was little doubt following the losses. He explained that the team only had two days of practice with new player Jason "JBOEN" Boe Nielsen before arriving at the event. After the early defeats, he adopted a more stringent approach during team talks, which resulted in improved performance.

FaZe has now solidified their strategy on Cache, a map they had focused on extensively during practice. Krumhorn praised the team's efforts and excitement, noting that their preparation on Cache may have outmatched that of their opponents so far.

Looking ahead to their semifinal matchup against PARIVISION, Krumhorn expressed that he views his team as underdogs. He recognized the recent roster changes within PARIVISION and acknowledged the strength of their players as factors to consider in the upcoming clash.

"They made two roster changes, bringing in HObbit. He knows dastan, he knows the system of dastan and Jame as well, so the transition period for him coming back was probably very short and very smooth," said Krumhorn. He remains optimistic but recognizes the challenge ahead.
