HEROIC in Advanced Talks to Acquire MartinezSa from Gentle Mates

HEROIC is reportedly in advanced discussions to secure the services of Spanish AWPer Antonio "MartinezSa" Martinez. This potential signing comes as HEROIC seeks a solution for their AWPer position, which has been unfilled since Alimzhan "Alkaren" Bitimbay faced visa issues earlier this year.

The context surrounding this move is rooted in the ongoing struggles of Gentle Mates, the current team of MartinezSa. The French organization has faced a turbulent period, narrowly missing out on a spot at the IEM Cologne Major and subsequently opting to withdraw from Counter-Strike. They are now looking to offload their roster, having reached out to other organizations, including Heretics and KOI.

Interest in MartinezSa has risen during this tumultuous summer. Prior to the negotiations with HEROIC, he had also garnered attention from FaZe, though they opted to loan in Jason "JBOEN" Boe Nielsen from BIG Academy for the foreseeable future.

MartinezSa has been a part of Spanish-speaking teams throughout his career, initially gaining recognition with VELOX and later joining Gentle Mates, which included playing days with Movistar Riders and a stint in Latin America with 9z in 2024 and 2025. Since August 2025, he has maintained a solid performance with a 1.14 rating as he competed in various tournaments, all while striving for a Major spot.

If the transfer is finalized, MartinezSa is expected to replace Simon "yxngstxr" Boije, who has served as the team's temporary AWPer during Alkaren's absence.
