Liquid signs Jorko as new AWPer in roster reshuffle

Team Liquid has announced the addition of Georgi "Jorko" Mitev, a 17-year-old Bulgarian AWPer, to their active roster. Jorko takes over the position formerly held by Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, who was benched on Thursday.

Before joining Liquid, Jorko played for FOKUS for five months, where he recorded an average rating of 1.07. During his time there, he secured a victory at the Urban Riga Open Season 3 and narrowly missed out on playoff qualification at PGL Bucharest. Prior to FOKUS, Jorko's career included stints with CPH Wolves and MOUZ NXT, where he played alongside Oldřich "PR" Nový and Adrian "xelex" Vincze.

With Liquid seeking to bolster its roster, Jorko's signing reflects the organization's ongoing strategy to invest in younger talent. The team has faced challenges in recent years and has consistently struggled in the AWPer role across various lineups.

The decision to bring in Jorko echoes the signing of ultimate, who joined the team in July 2024 despite lacking tier-one experience. Ultimate made an impression during practice matches against Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken; however, he never established a consistent performance during his time with the team.

A disappointing performance in 2026, marked by early exits from multiple tournaments, saw Liquid drop significant rankings and barely qualify for the IEM Cologne Major, where they exited in Stage 1 with a 2-3 record. These results have compelled Liquid to make sweeping changes as they head into the second season.

Reports indicate that the organization is also targeting Johnny "JT" Theodosiou as their new in-game leader, as they aim to improve their T-side performance, which has been among the worst in the competitive scene this year.

As it stands, Liquid’s roster is now composed of: Keith "NAF" Markovic, Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, Georgi "Jorko" Mitev, alongside coach Viktor "flashie" Tamás Bea, while Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak remains benched.
