JBOEN reflects on strong FaZe debut at XSE Pro League

Jason "JBOEN" Boe Nielsen has expressed pride in his performance at the XSE Pro League, where he made his debut with FaZe after being signed on loan from BIG Academy. Currently standing second in the overall rating leaderboard with a score of 1.35, JBOEN is the top performer from his team following the group stage.

In an interview from Guangzhou, he reflected on his initial impressions with FaZe, his background in Astralis Talent, and his swift adaptation to the new environment. Despite starting the tournament with an 0-2 record, FaZe rallied to a 3-2 finish in the Swiss group stage, setting up a quarter-final clash against BetBoom.

JBOEN felt an unexpected sense of accomplishment with his early performance, stating, "I'm proud of myself, honestly. I'm impressed that I put on a good show already, even though it was my first big event with the whole new team."

Initially, he had modest expectations and admitted, "I definitely didn't expect to play this well. I thought I'd maybe put up an average rating or something like that. But I went beyond my own expectations, and yeah, I'm just happy."

Discussing his journey through various teams, including his time with Astralis Talent and Preasy, he noted the consistency of focus on improving within academy structures. He acknowledged his desire to reach tier one competition, expressing excitement about joining a prestigious organization like FaZe. He mentioned, "Now I'm here with FaZe, and it's a really big organization. I'm really proud to be here, really happy."

When asked about the transition to playing alongside established stars like frozen and Twistzz, he highlighted the significant difference in skill levels and experience: "The level is just way higher... The guys have so much experience. They know what to do, they know what not to do."

Looking ahead, JBOEN underlined his team-oriented mindset for the playoffs, emphasizing the importance of improvement rather than setting specific tournament goals. He remarked about the impact of playing in front of a live audience, saying, "I think I actually play better with a crowd on the stage. I feel more focused, more in the game, and it just feels better when there's a crowd."
