Evgeny "r3salt" Frolov expressed disappointment following Nemesis' early exit from the XSE Pro League playoffs. The team was eliminated in the first round after a 3-1 group stage performance that included wins against Luminosity, B8, and EYEBALLERS.
In a conversation after the match against Alliance, r3salt conveyed his eagerness to participate in more LAN events, emphasizing his willingness to play at any time, regardless of the tournament name or bracket. "As long as I get to play, as long as I win, that's it," he stated.
Reflecting on the match against Alliance, r3salt mentioned that he and the team had set high expectations for the tournament. Despite winning the first map, he felt that the team lost focus, leading to their eventual defeat. "Honestly, I set my sights higher for this tournament, and so did all the guys. We were aiming higher," he remarked, acknowledging the frustration that erupted among players post-match.
During the after-action debriefing, r3salt noted that the setbacks in points earned could hinder their progress toward competing at major events. He stated, "We just got eliminated in the quarter-final, and we didn't get any points, the points we needed to lock ourselves into this tier one or one and a half to play at all these tournaments. That's it. We got eliminated. No points earned. So now, apparently, we'll keep slogging through the shit."
Despite the disappointment, r3salt highlighted the positive aspects of their group stage performance, particularly their teamwork against teams like BetBoom. He noted the need for consistent performances to secure a spot in the upper echelon of competitive CS2.
Regarding his previous experiences with PANDAS and Sangal, r3salt described a period of stagnation in his career. He felt relief to join Nemesis, stating that it allowed him to remain active and contribute. Now with something to build on, he aspires for continued improvement and hopes for a chance to compete in the Major in Singapore.
