100 Thieves, BCG, Liquid, and FOKUS in EWC Qualifier Playoffs
The Esports World Cup open qualifier has reached its playoff stage with four teams set to secure spots in the main event.
The open qualifier for the Esports World Cup has progressed to the playoffs after narrowing down 64 teams to 32 via a GSL group stage. The favorites advanced relatively easily through this initial phase.
A single-elimination bracket will determine which teams secure four coveted spots in the main event. The matchups for the playoffs were established during a live draw conducted by Jackson "el_jack0" Wolf and Michal Slowinski from ESL, alongside HLTV filming the proceedings.
In the draw, group winners were placed in one bowl and were selected one by one in bracket order. These winners were then matched with runner-ups from another bowl, ensuring that teams from the same group could not face each other in the first round.
Among the most competitive pools is one featuring 100 Thieves, Liquid, BC.Game, OG, FOKUS, and 1win, all vying for a single spot in the main event. Another pool consists of HEROIC, fnatic, EYEBALLERS, and SINNERS competing for their chance.
Virtus.pro, with their new roster showing promise, advanced after victories against Sangal and JiJieHao. They are set to face Sashi in their opening match, while Betclic, BIG, and Eternal Fire compete in the same bracket.
The last available spot will be contested by teams in another pool including NRG, DENDELE, Inner Circle, HOTU, and 9INE.
