Gizmy sets Major qualification as goal for 100 Thieves

British player Jack "Gizmy" von Spreckelsen has taken the role of in-game leader for 100 Thieves after the organization acquired him from Monte. This placement comes after he was the last member remaining from the Monte roster that participated in the IEM Cologne Major.

Gizmy shared that a primary objective for his team is to qualify for the upcoming Major, a sentiment echoed by most teams competing in the tier-two circuit. He stated, "I think the general target is to make the Major, probably the same with most teams at our level and above, the tier-two region."

His new team has begun to show promise, having secured back-to-back 2-0 victories during the group stage at the EWC open qualifier. Despite these successes, 100 Thieves currently holds a VRS ranking of No. 39, which limits their opportunities for tier-one tournament invitations.

Reflecting on his recent performances, Gizmy expressed, "Yesterday was definitely pretty cool. Just enjoying the game, really. But yeah, quick 2-0s. GG to both of the enemy teams." However, he acknowledged that the competition may become more challenging as they advance further in the open qualifier,

Gizmy has been adjusting to his new role, particularly during his first LAN event with 100 Thieves, after experiencing mixed results in online competitions. He noted that recent losses against teams such as NIP and Nuclear TigeRES can be attributed to their relatively new lineup, where synergy is still developing. “You need a lot of reps to be drilled on defaults and stuff,” he explained.

Despite these challenges, he feels confident about the team dynamics. He commented on how the players have been receptive to incorporating his strategies, saying, "They're playing to my style, for sure." With support from coaches gla1ve and zander, Gizmy is optimistic about future performances.

In terms of expectations for the next day, Gizmy made it clear that his goal for the team is strict: "I would only be happy with qualifying for EWC." He recognizes that success in the competitive landscape will come through continuous improvement and winning matches, despite random seeding arrangements in future matchups.

Looking ahead, he expressed hopes for advancing in the rankings and making a significant impact in upcoming LAN events, including Stake Pulse 2 and possibly a Logitech tournament.
