XSE Responds to Criticism Over Pro League Guangzhou Issues
Following significant delays and concerns at the XSE Pro League Guangzhou, the organization outlines steps taken to address these issues, including staff changes.
In light of recent criticisms regarding the XSE Pro League Guangzhou event, the tournament organizers have publicly addressed the various issues that arose during the $1,000,000 LAN competition. Following the completion of the group's stage, XSE acknowledged that they faced substantial technical difficulties, particularly on the first two days of the tournament.
The event experienced notable delays attributed mainly to technical problems and a power outage, which raised concerns among players regarding the integrity of the tournament. Reports had also surfaced about malicious software being discovered on some of the PCs used during the competition, leading to increased scrutiny aimed at XSE.
In their statement, XSE admitted to being "not adequately prepared" for the technical setbacks encountered on the inaugural day. They confirmed the aforementioned power outage on the second day as a contributing factor to further delays.
In addressing specific issues, XSE highlighted the hacking incident involving Kirill "Magnojez" Rodnov's Steam account and the presence of malware on tournament devices. In response, the organization reported that they had taken decisive actions, including the dismissal of the lead administrator in charge of overseeing the event, along with wiping and reinstalling affected systems and replacing numerous PCs in training areas.
The statement was issued just ahead of the tournament's playoffs, scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 9. After several days of the group stage, XSE noted that the latter portion of the event proceeded with less disruption compared to the initial days.
