Astralis defeats paiN to reach Bounty Finals semi-finals

Astralis secured a hard-fought victory over paiN, advancing to the semi-finals of the BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals.

Astralis has achieved a spot in the semi-finals of the BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals after a challenging 2-1 victory against paiN. This win marks the team's first appearance in a LAN semi-final since the PGL Major in Bucharest.

The Danish-majority squad exhibited resilience, coming from behind after losing the first map. They clinched victories on both Inferno and Mirage in overtime to secure their advancement. Despite the final outcome, head coach Rasmus "HooXi" Nielsen expressed concern over the team's inconsistent performance throughout the match, noting missed opportunities as they squandered ten map points on the final two maps.

After the match, Victor "Staehr" Staehr commented, "The energy was crazy in this game. I love it." He acknowledged the challenge posed by paiN, admitting they played well and contributed to the overtime scenario. Staehr added that the team managed to maintain a financial advantage that allowed them to play more comfortably in the pressure moments.

The first half of Nuke saw Astralis controlling the pace of the game, establishing a strong lead on the CT side. Although paiN struggled initially, they managed to recover slightly, ending the first half with a total of six rounds after a solid finish.

In the second half, Astralis quickly reached double digits, boosted by a successful pistol round. However, paiN mounted a formidable counterattack, achieving a 6-0 run that put them back in contention, driven by standout performances from Vinicius "vsm" Moreira and João "snow" Vinicius.

Moving to Inferno, Astralis demonstrated a greater comfort level, racing to an 8-2 lead on the T side. paiN displayed tenacity, responding with two consecutive rounds, but ultimately fell short despite having opportunities to map points in both regulation and overtime. Astralis secured Inferno after a double overtime.

On Mirage, Astralis continued their momentum, building a 6-0 lead. paiN once again showed grit, challenging the scoreboard even when trailing 7-12. Yet, in another tightly contested overtime, Astralis emerged victorious, thereby sealing their spot in the semi-finals.
