Boombl4 assesses playoff run after BetBoom's quarter-finals exit

Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov has labeled BetBoom’s journey to the playoffs as an "acceptable result," despite the team's significant defeat against FaZe in the quarter-finals of the XSE Pro League. Following the loss, Boombl4 addressed the media, detailing the challenges his team faced alongside a contrast drawn between their solid performance in the group stage and their playoff downfall.

According to Boombl4, the lengthy break before the playoffs contributed to the team's struggles, stating, "It was very hard to readjust to this map pool for the tournament," especially after a 3-0 run in the group stage. He identified the newly added Cache map as a complicating factor, emphasizing the lack of preparation days with S1ren, who had recently joined the lineup.

In his reflection, Boombl4 stated, "The team's task right now is to hold the position we're in, try to climb higher, and for now start consistently reaching the playoffs, to gain experience so we can eventually win in those playoffs." This perspective emphasizes a long-term vision aimed at building the team's performance gradually.

When discussing the potential impact of the five-day break on the team’s preparedness, he affirmed that it could disrupt momentum. Boombl4 noted, "Scrims are different from official matches," which can create uncertainty about the team’s true form.

The absence of FL4MUS from the roster post-Major was also a topic of conversation. Boombl4 expressed that no immediate changes were expected until visa complications arose. He articulated mixed feelings regarding the frequent roster adjustments, voicing concerns that these changes hinder progress assessment.

"It's hard to even assess any kind of ceiling or progress for this roster," he noted, citing the myriad of stand-ins his team had used throughout the season.

Looking ahead, Boombl4 aims for BetBoom to strengthen its ranking, with aspirations to consistently qualify for top tournaments. He is optimistic that gaining playoff experience will prepare the team for greater challenges ahead, concluding, "First we need to make the playoffs and gain experience; by the end of next season, we can start putting up a worthy fight."
