Kursy on new rifling role with 3DMAX: "I really like it"

Jeremy "Kursy" Gast has enthusiastically embraced his return to the French esports scene, having recently joined 3DMAX in a significant roster change. The team replaced Pierre "Ex3rcice" Bulinge with the former GamerLegion AWPer, marking a new chapter for both the player and the organization.

In his new role, Kursy is shifting away from the AWP to focus on rifling, a decision he feels is both exciting and challenging. "I need to understand it more, it's not finished, and I have a lot of progress to do," he acknowledged, expressing confidence in his abilities as a rifler.

After nearly a year away from competitive play, Kursy is eager to make his mark with 3DMAX. "I wanted to play every time. It was something that I was thinking about all the time," he said about his motivation to return. His early tournaments with the team provided only limited practice time, which made adapting to his new position more difficult. Despite the challenges, he is committed to improving daily.

Reflecting on his time with GamerLegion, Kursy noted that he struggled to showcase his true skills. "I don't think I showed a good me, as I can say, and it was hard as well to show my best," he admitted, underscoring his preference for rifling over AWPing.

Kursy also acknowledged his statistical inconsistencies in recent matches, attributing them to his adjustment period in the new position. He emphasized that this variability will diminish as he gains experience, stating, "It's just a question of time to try to be consistent."

Upon joining 3DMAX and returning to a French environment, Kursy feels a smoother transition into his new rifling role. He believes that being part of a French team has greatly assisted his development, particularly when facing the pressures of competing at a high level.

Regarding his experiences with GamerLegion, Kursy reflected on the difficulties of adapting to an international team structure. The language barrier and different style of play posed challenges, but he views them as valuable learning experiences.

Even though 3DMAX has historically performed well on the map Cache-having played it frequently-Kursy remained realistic about their recent struggles: "We lost... so it didn't really help us this tournament since we weren't winning on it."

With a current position in the top eight, Kursy believes that facing either MOUZ or Spirit presents an opportunity for his team to make a surprising run in the tournament. "It's not about who we're playing, it's about us, and we have to give everything against a top 50 team or a top three team," he stated, underscoring his team's determination as they push to advance further.
