nafany discusses 1win's rise ahead of playoffs: "It's like a dream"
Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov shares his perspectives on the newly formed 1win roster as they advance into playoffs, emphasizing their potential and the challenges ahead.
Vladislav "nafany" Gorshkov is optimistic about his new 1win lineup, believing they have the potential to make a significant impact in upcoming matches. 1win has successfully progressed to the playoffs of the Esports World Cup open qualifier, with only three hurdles left before reaching the main event. Their journey will commence against Liquid, with formidable opponents like FOKUS, 100 Thieves, and BC.Game potentially awaiting them in further rounds.
When assessing 1win's prospects in the qualifier, nafany stated, "I'm thinking like a realist," acknowledging their play's inconsistency. He noted, "On certain level we are doing a lot of mistakes," emphasizing that their performance will greatly influence their chances. He added, "Sometimes we can beat the best teams and sometimes we can lose to really crazy guys."
Reflecting on his time since leaving Cloud9, nafany expressed satisfaction with the current team dynamics. He noted that the roster's formation had been a long-desired goal, stating, "We wanted to work with each other for a long time, and it happened. And after that things just got better, at least from my POV, so I'm really happy. For me, it's like a dream."
Despite their recent success, nafany pointed out that the team’s reactions were subdued following victories, attributing this to the expectation of outcomes. "It's not even a minimum result for us, so obviously we weren't so hyped about that," he explained, sharing that some individual errors hindered their performance.
Regarding their past loss to BC.Game, nafany conceded that they were outperformed, indicating a need for further cohesion within the team. He remarked, "I guess we just need a bit more time to get used to each other, and then maybe it will just be easier to play such games."
The recent formation of the team involved multiple moving parts, including the availability of players like fame and BELCHONOKK. Nafany revealed that negotiations were complex, especially concerning player transfers, yet expressed gratitude that everything fell into place. He noted that 1win’s support has alleviated some financial pressure, allowing them to focus on improving their game.
As they approach playoffs, nafany remains cautiously optimistic about 1win's chances of making it to the main event. He is determined to give his best, asserting, "If for example I will have a good day, I think it will be pretty realistic that we can beat like any team here."
He also found the experience of competing in the qualifier to be quite extraordinary, particularly in terms of the event's organization and scale, comparing it to previous LAN experiences. With expectations set for their playoff performance, nafany believes in the team's potential and readiness to overcome the challenges that lie ahead.
