Inner Circle secures BLAST Open Porto qualification after Europe qualifier win
The Ukrainian team clinched their spot at BLAST Open Porto by defeating Virtus.pro in the Europe qualifier for the tournament.
Inner Circle has successfully qualified for the BLAST Open Porto after emerging victorious in RES Showdown 4, the European qualifier for the prestigious $1,000,000 event set to take place from August 24 to September 6.
The team, led by Viktor "onic" Babii, showcased dominant performances throughout the qualifier, not losing a single map as they swept past GenOne, magic, and Virtus.pro. This marks Inner Circle's first significant LAN appearance since the PGL Bucharest in April.
Their recent success comes on the heels of a strong performance in Super DraculaN Season 1, where they secured a championship title that contributed vital VRS points, helping them move closer to obtaining future invitations and currently holding a rank of 26th.
Key player David "Dawy" Bibik, HLTV Prospect #8, was instrumental in their qualification campaign, boasting an impressive average rating of 1.38 across six maps, even though he played a supporting role in the grand final. In the final match against Virtus.pro, the Russian team faced some challenges, especially with Petr "fame" Bolyshev stepping in for Alexander "AquaRS" Kovalev on the second map. Nonetheless, Virtus.pro can take pride in their performance, having secured wins over teams like Ninjas in Pyjamas and B8, particularly after a long absence from competitive play.
Looking forward, three additional teams will qualify for BLAST Open Porto through upcoming regional qualifiers in the Americas and Asia, while the remaining spots will be filled based on the Global VRS rankings as of July 6.
